That alphabet thing

The last time I posted I made a challenge. To draw out all the letters of the alphabet and convert them all to vector graphics. It was fun, it was a little hard, and it was rather educational.

The challenge was to actually create one letter per day and only use the pen tool to convert to a vector graphic. I tried hard on some but when it came time to creating circles, I had to use the ellipse tool

The other part of the challenge was to actually convert all of those in less than five days. I chose five because I am still trying to get a grasp on many of the tools and how they work.

Today I managed to finish them all.

There ya have it! It was fun for me to create all of the little creatures, characters, what-you-ma-call-its.

Todays recap

Not really much to say other than I actually slept. It was a little weird. Strange almost. I got home, made a quick edit and called it a day, or morning, or whatever you want to call it. The video was a time-lapse of Jamie doing a watercolor painting.

The video is a short one but as most time-lapse videos are it shows the progress in a short period of time. From the footage recorded it was about 2 hours of video but it took a little longer because most of the work was also done outside of the recording. I’ve been doing these for some time for her and I’ve loved making every single one of these. The painful part is finding a song and then editing it.

More motivated than before

You read that right. Me. Motivated.

If you hadn’t already noticed I’ve been writing|blogging more lately. It’s made me happy. Part of that reason is because it lets me jot down ideas. Sort of a reference point for me.

The other part is because I like to share my happiness.

Over the last couple of years that has taken a strange turn because of working at Starbucks. I really hate saying it but it makes me hate people sometimes. It does. It hurts to say it because I genuinely love people. It’s the characters that I don’t like much. Certain genres of people who make me weep and want to just up and quit that job.

I mentioned this to Jamie the other day and she could see it in my eyes. I think. I would like to think she did.

Anyway, that’s one of the reasons that I’ve wanted to look for another job. Yes, I’m being public about it. So terrible! Be happy for me. I’m taking the steps to my happiness. I support people who feel the same way or are even going through the same things I may.

We all deserve to be happy. How we go about that is entirely up to the individual person.

Alright, so I titled the post, “more motivated than before,” because it is true. Today I got a chance to dabble with Illustrator once more. The last time I actually did anything with it was for school; that was well over five years ago.

Brace yourself, it’s a tweet:

The thing to keep in mind is that I literally haven’t touched that program in years. The last thing I did was a little bit of type and a basic template; brace yourself for another tweet:

Yes, I like WordPress. There is a story behind the shirt’s wording but that’s for another post. I guess. Or I could just link to the YouTube video I made for the story. Maybe some other time.

Yes, I like to tweet random things like that and yes those are GIF images rather than JPG|PNG. I’m weird, I know.

Now, the main reason I say that I’m more motivated is because I have several character ideas that I have wanted to turn to shirt designs and never really got around to doing because I didn’t have a chance or the time. Well, dabbling with Illustrator for that brief amount of time and seeing Wacom’s Inklingย in action made me want to try my hand at sketching and shirt design once more.

My handwriting skills

Well, not my typing ability. I mean my pen, pencil, paper type of skills.

Over the years my handwriting has changed. I used to write in a more legible manner. Now I’m working on my calligraphy skills so you can imagine what that looks like now. It’s okay.

As you can tell I got bored one day before work, grabbed my calligraphy pen and began to experiment. I’m not entirely happy with the way they turned out but at
least I practiced. Today I went out and got a new book:

Really like it. I skimmed through it and will actually read the book over the weekend. Weird, I know. Me reading is a scary thought. Okay not really but it has been way too long since I ever read a book.

This is just a small spark I needed in the right direction to keep my creative juices flowing. Now if I could only buy all the pen nibs I wanted then I would be set for life.

Challenges that I like facing

Recently we moved to a bigger place and I am super happy. Part of it being that I’m with Jamie and SJ but the other part is that I’ll be living with my sister once more. Her hubby will join us so that makes it even better.

Jamie had a showing a few days ago and it went good. I watched little man and she did her thing. I know I posted and shared a link for her newsletter but it really doesn’t do it any justice at times since most people don’t like to read their emails, let alone visit a site after they’ve opened the email. I have a habit of doing that at times.

The last week Jamie started a few new projects, which I’m super stoked about. I’m happy about it because I’ve edited the videos of her painting in watercolor and some acrylic as well.

Sit back and enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚
